Become a Qualified Dog Groomer - City & Guilds and ICMG Courses

Sue has over 23 years’ experience in dog grooming, having previously ran the dog grooming courses at Derby College, Broomfield Hall and is an International Certified Master Groomer, holding her Level 3 7750 City & Guilds Dog Grooming Qualification. Sue has two colleagues who work with her at the grooming school, Jess and Lindsey, who both help with the running of the dog grooming courses and are qualified International Certified Master Groomers. The team has a 100% success rate in teaching the dog grooming course and hold Qualified Teaching and Learning Status. The grooming school works closely with ICMG UK International Certified Master Groomers UK and are an accredited dog grooming school www.icmguk.com.

We offer dog grooming training and you can come along and enrol onto an accredited dog grooming course with us. Our part time dog grooming courses are perfect for those who want to learn to become a qualified dog groomer.

The salon is located on the outskirts of Ilkeston, 8 miles from Derby and 12 miles from Nottingham.

 

Certified Professional Groomer combined with City & Guilds Level 2 Dog Grooming Assistant

The course covers a range of skills including:

  • Bathing and dying dogs
  • Clipping and styling dogs
  • Hand stripping techniques
  • Nail trimming
  • Ear plucking
  • Anal glands
  • Canine behavior and handling
  • Dog skin and hair
  • Canine diseases
  • Canine first aid
  • Canine parasites
  • Grooming cats (knowledge and understanding)
  • Salon sanitation and disinfection
  • Professional grooming and ethics
  • The grooming business
  • The kennel/pet trim
  • Care of the groomer
  • Groomer liability insurance
  • Canine anatomy
  • Canine hair growth
  • Scissor and blade care

There are practical and written exams at the end of the course.

On successful completion of the course you become a Certified Professional Groomer and can put the letters CPG after your name.

Sue has great success with her student's exam results, with her team on hand to help you each step of the way.

Times
The course runs for 20 weeks, one day a week.

Cost
Course fees are £4,200 which includes a scissor set and grooming shirt which are yours to keep worth £140.

You are required to join ICMG and pay exam fees directly to them for the amount of £399, this also includes your study guides for the qualification.

You can choose not to combine the City & Guilds Level 2 and complete the CPG on its own which reduces the fees to £3,100 (excluding the ICMG fee of £399).

Dog Grooming Taster Day

We offer dog grooming taster days to allow you to come along and experience what is involved in becoming a dog groomer. These are a great idea if you'd like to see if dog grooming is something you'd like a career in.
